• Studied chemistry in Münster and München, received Dipl. Chem. (1990) and Dr. rer. nat. (1993) degrees from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.

• Did postdoctoral research in the group of Prof. Marvin J. Miller, University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN, USA.  Focus on developing synthetic organic methods directed towards the discovery of new antivirals.

• Joined Bayer AG’s Central Research Lab in Leverkusen (1995) to support their medicinal chemistry program with combinatorial synthesis methods.

• Moved on to product development of Polymer Additives (2001), developed interest in phosphorus chemistry. Company name changed to LANXESS (2005), chemistry stayed the same.

• Current position is Head of R&D, Business Unit Polymer Additives.
