Lecture Title: The Prohibition of Chemical Weapons – Achievements and Challenges
Abstract:
Much has been achieved in the prohibition of chemical weapons (CW). All declared CW stockpiles have been destroyed under international verification. However, several challenges remain, in particular related to holding perpetrators of CW-attacks to account and with a view to preventing the re-emergence of CW. Chemists, their learned societies and industry associations should be aware of and contribute to international debates and policy formulation especially in the latter area.
